This was a very, very special kaiseki dinner.

Everything was seasonal, the ingredients were top quality and excellently prepared. The soup broths specifically were subtle - you could always taste every ingredient, but they *just* integrated. The courses were varied but mostly fish, mushrooms, and crustaceans, with a small showing of beef (it was an autumn-inspired set menu). The sake recommendations were on point, though they don't seem to do a western-style pairing. They stock some of the rarer sake.

The other thing that set the dinner apart was the relaxed but "proper" to a T traditional service. It's by no means required, but reading up on etiquette and table manners will enhance your experience, as the proprietess is a protocol expert.

The couple who run it have just enough English to make the experience smooth and explain the dishes, and even a bit of smalltalk! We resorted to Google translate for some more complex concepts.

With drinks, came out to 78.000 yen for two people. We will be back.

A very good Kaiseki restaurant. We made reservation 2 days ahead, the owner speaks some English. You can talk to the chef and the waitress if you know Japanese. Many courses were served, the food was amazing. We spent $180 per person.

One of the best if not the best meal and experience I've had. The chef and his wife are such welcoming and warm hosts, she even got a dictionary out to identify ingredients for us so we can understand what we are eating. The food is top notch and whilst it's simple the flavours are spot on and well worth the price given the quality and quantity of food. Would highly recommend.
