Gorgeous udon and the best tempura I've had in Hachioji. Lovely, tiny nondescript udon shop with a cosy, traditional feel. Be prepared to squeeze in around the chefs at work and people eating at the counter, take off your shoes and sit on the raised floor at the back. No English menu I found but you won't be disappointed if you struggle through the handwritten menu. Hot and cold udon available with seasonal ingredients! Gets busy at lunchtime!

10 minutes walk from Hachioji Station north exit
We visited the 100 Famous Udon Shops [Authentic Handmade Udon Arata]

Closes at 2:30pm for lunch! I came at the last minute at 2pm, but I was able to enter the store.
The store is small with 3 counter seats and 3 table seats in the back.

The menu is extensive and seems to have everything hot and cold.
And a reasonable price range that is friendly to common people ♪
I was also interested in Kansai-style kake udon, but I decided on the standard bukkake udon.

    This is what I received
    Chilled bukkake
    ¥650

The udon noodles look beautiful when served.
Tenkasu, grated radish, ginger, sesame, green onion and standard condiments
Authentic Sanuki udon, chewy and delicious
It's smooth and you can eat it all at once.

The lunch set meal is an attractive set of udon + cooked rice for ¥950.

It seems like they're open at night, so it's a good place to enjoy tempura and udon while drinking alcohol.

    Thank you for the meal♪

This is a small udon restaurant that pops up near major intersections.
It has been selected as one of Tabelog 100 Famous Stores East 2024.
As expected, Moriya Ichimon is a famous Sanuki udon restaurant, and you can enjoy the edgy, chewy and smooth udon.
The soup stock for the kake udon is said to be Kansai-style rather than the standard Sanuki udon, but it is light and has a nice flavor.
I also had the Kamaage, and the soup stock had such a gentle flavor that I could drink it all.
There aren't many restaurants in Tokyo where you can eat authentic udon, so it was a valuable experience.
