There is no english menu. Kinda expensive but very worth it. One of the best meal we ate during our kyoto trip. We ordered sashimi, fried oyster, and tempura. And it were all delicious. A must try restaurant esp. if you are visiting iwashumizu hachimangu. It is located in front of the station.
Will feature this on my vlog at my youtube (@soraltrading) and on my other social medias.

On my way back from visiting Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine, I ordered a set of mackerel sushi and tsune udon. When I arrived around 11:30 on a weekday, I was able to get a seat right away, but by 12:00, the place was full. The mackerel sushi was perfectly firm and very delicious. The kitsune udon was also elegant and delicious.

This is a long-established sushi restaurant that has been loved by locals for many years since its establishment, and their signature menu is bar sushi. The sushi is made with careful handwork and reminds me of the taste of pressed sushi I used to eat.
~Today's meal~
Stick sushi set Kitsune Soba 1,815 yen (tax included)
[Cooking/Taste]
Bar sushi has a good balance of toppings and vinegared rice, and tastes good even without soy sauce. The mackerel was fatty yet refreshing, and I felt like I could eat one right away. I don't think it was particularly delicious, but I enjoyed the simple yet profound flavor.
【access】
In front of Keihan Main Line Iwashimizu Hachimangu Station 19m from the station
[Store atmosphere]
There were quite a few customers, so it was a lively atmosphere. From the counter seats, you can see the craftsmen at work up close, making you feel as if you are the protagonist of a solitary gourmet experience. There was seating, and it was the perfect space for a meal after visiting Hachiman Shrine with three generations. It is characterized by a warm and homely atmosphere.
【service】
The staff is kind and courteous and impressive. Although the store was full, orders were handled quickly.
[Price/cospa]
Prices seem a little high, especially for the noodles. Mackerel sticks are expensive everywhere, but it's a little cheaper if you order them as a set. Since the original cost cannot be said to be high, the store seems to be making quite a profit.

I visited Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine just before 1 a.m. on a Sunday.
There are still many people who are going to visit the shrine on New Year's visit, so they write their names on the paper in front of the store and wait.
The store is almost full.
What I received was
Mackerel stick sushi set
I ordered the udon with tororo kelp.
The food is served first with mackerel sushi, followed by small bowls.
Saba sushi is fatty, meaty mackerel that can be eaten as is with a thin layer of konbu seaweed. It is also served with soy sauce, but that's up to you.
The udon noodles are thin, and the soup stock is slightly sweet in the Kansai style.
It was a very satisfying set.
