A sweets shop Sawaya's specialty confectionery that has been around since the Edo period. There are two types of rice cakes, bean paste rice cakes and powdered rice cakes. The freshly made awa mochi is a little warm, and the fluffy texture of the foxtail millet goes well with the mildly sweet and fragrant kinako and the flavorful bean paste. The best-by date of Awamochi is only on the day.

This shop offers delicious mochi. Also, if you are looking for a souvenir that you can take back home, they offer traditional hard candy.

Found this place from google maps. Visited with my cousin and we both agree this is one of the most delicious Japanese desserts we’ve ever had. The shop is cozy and full of local people. Good place to take a break when it’s hot outside.
