Cafe Bon

This is an amazing hidden gem in Shibuya.
The coffee is ground and roasted at the moment, dripped.
Some say 1400¥ is expensive, but they forget to mention that you are served a pot of coffee which refills your cup 3 times.
The atmosphere is shabby and unique: A cup is selected for you from their vast collection and handled along with a small card explaining its history.
They have some dessert options for the day, but if it's your first time you have to try their specialty: Strawberry Shortcake.
It is made by the owners too with real cream.
it's soft and spongy and the strawberries are very sweet. You can share the portion since it's big enough for two (in contrast with other cafes' portions)
Totally worth the experience, bear in mind that weekends are very busy.

I really liked the vibe of this place. Very old school, in a basement, dark, and with a lot of personality. Variety of coffee and tea options, with several desserts too choose from. The iced coffee is STRONG, just an fyi. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because of the price. The coffee and cake was 2800 yen. A little high in my experience, even for Tokyo.

This was a hard one. The place is very nice and cozy, with a sort of retro Japan vibe that is hard to get these days in Tokyo. They serve two cakes only, the shortcake, which was excellent and the chocolate which was ok. The coffee is good, but hardly the best drip I've ever tasted. They is that they serve it in fancy English porcelain cups which adds to the experience. The experience itself being way too expensive: 1300 for the coffee and 1600 for the shortcake. (only cash btw)
