Enkaen Review Summary

My wife and I dined at this Chinese restaurant last Sunday after passing by many times and finally deciding to give it a try. We ordered the black vinegar pork, HK style fried rice, and crab sauce tofu. The dishes were all beautifully prepared, delicious, and well presented. However, in my personal opinion, the flavors seemed more tailored to local tastes and lacked some of the traditional authenticity..

The prices are too high for the quality and the quantity of the foods.
The staffs are quite cold and look like they don’t want to work there.

We had the course menu(7 different dishes for 3700 yen), expecting everything would be at least better than mediocre, instead we got dishes which are tiny(one dish, fried shrimp with mayonnaise, consists of only 2 pieces of shrimps and 2 leaves of lettuce).
Attached picture is the bowl of rice we had with the course menu, which is not really A bowl, but just HALF a bowl of rice.

When we asked for more water at the table, the waiter, upon seeing our empty glasses, brought a bottle of water to the table, left it there, said unfriendly ‘water is here’ and left.

Delicious spicy tantanmen and a great assortment of other Chinese dishes. Unlike many other restaurants in the area, this 2F place is wheelchair accessible and has lots of space and seating. Upscale atmosphere and good service, but the price is reasonable. My noodles set me back 1000Y.

The food was good, but not great enough to justify the small portions. The staff was very friendly though and the server/waitress could speak English pretty well.

Huge serving size and large selection but taste is so-so. Good if your main purpose is a cheap meal.
