Ganko Review Summary

First time in Japan and have tried numerous Japanese restaurants while staying in Tokyo. Did a day trip to Kyoto and had dinner here. The sushi/sashimi is fresh but some of the sashimi seemed like it was not fully thawed out… One of the assorted sashimi dish arrived almost when the rest of the order have been consumed. One of the server slipped us the order slips before we were finished with the food, so we didn’t bother to order more. Just as well, as all the dessert selections was marked as sold out and this was only 6pm?! Prices was a bit on the high side when compared to the rest of the other Japanese restaurants I’ve tried here in Japan so far.

It’s an interesting restaurant with a few sister locations. There is a large menu. The environment is festive. The food is good and consistent. The variety is big enough for everyone in a large group to be able to find something they fancy! There is a dessert of honey soaked balls with a dollop of butter on top that is sublime.

This was a really wonderful experience. As a sushi eater with a vegetarian husband and two kids in tow, finding a way to enjoy sushi in a place everyone else could enjoy was tricky. Ganko fit the bill perfectly! The sushi set with tempura and soba was delicious, husband had ample veggie sushi options as well as tofu three ways, and an eggplant dish. Kids ate well and we didnt order only from the kids menu (omelet, noodles, rice with curry). Staff was friendly and attentive and welcomed our family in (the vibe inside is more fancy than we had tried yet in Japan). It was a truly great dining experience and we were all thrilled.

Super friendly service, cute interior. Sides were all good, main dishes (we had beef tongue and various tempura) were just ok. Nice place to chill while waiting for ones train

Excellent food all around! They have a convenient English menu too. Very nicely priced for a great and affordable meal. Go there.
