Hatsune Sushi Review Summary

Lovely family restaurant opened by a senior Japanese couple. Really love the sushi and the atmosphere was top-notch. Although their English is not very good, they have English menu with pictures prepared and communicating with them was a pleasure. The sushi is hand made by the chef himself, and the price is pretty fair. We had almost the entire menu and paid a little less than ¥10,000.

Adorable little restaurant that seems to be a mom and pop shop. The place had about 7 seats and the chef makes the sushi right in front of you. Sushi was delicious and tasted incredibly fresh. Definitely worth a visit, would highly recommend!

What an amazing food and cultural experience in Hatshne Sushi. The couple here is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed. Sushi is value for money, doesn’t like the conveyor-belt-styled sushi, but high quality with freshness and authentic feeling. Also the decoration here brings you back 20-30 years ago. Highly recommend this place to foreign or local visitors who will visit the temple/zoo/ art museum.

Definitely a highlight of my visit to Kyoto. The chef and his wife (I assume) are friendly, welcoming, and responsive. I loved watching them work like clockwork with each other preparing our food, which was fresh but it's pricey a bit.. Cash payment only (menue is limited)no many options unfortunately
