When we arrived, there were huge queues for both tea houses, but the wait ended up being quite short, only 15 minutes, being on a Saturday at around 4pm.
They only have one thing on the menu, so they serve you directly the tea, and then bring you the mochis. The tea tasted great and was of good quality, and I absolutely loved the mochis, and would love to have the opportunity to go back and eat them again! I found that the sauce was really special and not something you can eat in other places. Really worth a visit! Also, they are better eaten hot, once they cool down the flavour is not that strong anymore, so I would recommend eating in and not take out!

No regret.
I know this place from watching Business Insider and truly no regret in actually finding time to eat there.
There was quiet long queue but it moved fast. The mochi tasted awesome. It was chewy and sweet. Truly a delight.
You get 11 skewers per plate too. Better to order one plate per person because it tasted that great.

Ichimonjiya Wasuke is a family run business for over a millennial in Imamiya shrine area. From a humble beginning, 994 A.D during Heian period, each generation has carried on the legacy. The current generation is a very honest and friendly lady. Her voice is soothing sweet.
Each bite of roasted Mochi is more than a snack, it is like biting into part of Japanese history itself.
The authenticity, atmosphere, friendliness and honesty of the shop speak right to my heart.
Thank you, current owner for carrying on the legacy!
I would totally recommend people to visit Ichimonji Wasuke.
