Ichinoya is a famous Unagi restaurant in Kawagoe. We came all the way from Tokyo one day to have try it, as a friend of mine lives in Saitama so it was convenient for him to meet us. The ambiance is like you are in someone’s family home, and the walls are decorated with the autographs of all the famous Japanese celebrities who have visited. The unagi was very good, albeit a little pricey (about 4000-6000 depending on how many pieces you want). However, according to my Japanese friends that I went with, they said that the pieces aren’t as thick as they used to be and the price has gone up. Regardless, if you’re headed to Kawagoe, it’s definitely worth trying this place if you like unagi, although if you live in Tokyo, you can find other just as good and equally famous places in the city – so no need to come this far just to eat unagi. Do not forget to make a reservation!

Best Unagi I ever had in my life. Please come to try. Usually they have a long line waiting to be seated. Reservation if you can. They have writing cue at the entrance and waiting area are comfortable. English menu are available. Staffs are busy and sometime cannot come to the table. Food are really good. Most of the dishes are Unagi if you don't like it I recommend not to come.
