2023/10/19 Ikebukuro Fukuju
I heard that a famous Ginza store was opening in Ikebukuro, so I went there. Right in front of Lumine Ikebukuro.

I received the top seasonal omakase course (15,980 yen) at the counter.

Not only the sushi, but also the appetizers, bowls, special dishes, and simmered dishes all had delicate flavors and were delicious.

All sushi is flavored, so you can eat it as is without adding anything. The seasoning varies depending on the toppings, but the combination of salt and vinegar was unusual and very delicious.

Details of this day's menu are below.
Appetizers: Boiled garland chrysanthemums, simmered swordfish in Arima, caramelized Anno sweet potato, smoked young scallops, salt-roasted ginkgo nuts

Bowl serving: Steamed shrimp and lotus with chrysanthemum decoration
[Grated lotus root mixed with shrimp]

Aori squid, red clam, shime mackerel, sea urchin salmon roe small bowl

Oily food: fried conger eel
(Conger eel is fluffy)

Special dish: Soft-boiled abalone, liver sauce, and rice
(Since the liver sauce will remain, I was told to add sushi rice and eat it like a risotto. It was a smart idea and it was very delicious.)

Pickled tuna, sole, striped horse mackerel

Steamed food: Snow crab and mushroom steamed egg custard
(The snow crab and mushroom filling gives it a special finish)

Medium fatty tuna, white shrimp caviar, egg,
Miso soup, torotaku
(The white shrimp was very sweet and melted in your mouth)

Sweetness: Hojicha chiffon cake, light brown

There are also private rooms, so it can be used for a variety of occasions, from entertaining guests to bringing children.
They have a wide variety of sake and shochu, but they also have soft drinks such as Tarmiz Brown and several types of orange juice from Ehime, which even those who don't drink can enjoy. It was a very nice shop with good customer service.

First visit.
Fukuju is located in a good location just a few dozen seconds walk from Ikebukuro Station.
The interior of the store is large, with not only a spacious counter but also many private rooms.
I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious sushi while relaxing at the counter.

The striped horse mackerel was particularly impressive.
A nigiri made from the stomach part of striped horse mackerel, which can only be harvested in small quantities.
It was my first time to have such a thick texture, and it had just the right amount of fat, so it was indescribably delicious.
Overall, the nigiri with just the right amount of yuzu was very refreshing and I finished all the courses in no time.

At first, I was worried about the volume, thinking I might not be able to eat it, but the deliciousness exceeded that!

As mentioned above, there are many private rooms inside the store, so I feel that it can be used in a variety of situations.

Thank you for the meal!

It's located on the 4th floor of the building, just a short walk after leaving Ikebukuro Station! There are about 10 counter seats inside the store, as well as several semi-private rooms and private rooms, making it ideal for dates or even just for a date!

What I received was the restaurant's most popular Seasonal Omakase Course (¥11,980)!

It starts with an assortment of appetizers, followed by a la carte dishes, snacks, and 8 pieces of nigiri to keep you full!

The sushi starts with `squid'', followed by `shima mackerel'', `engawa'', and `fatty tuna'', all of which are delicious!
Personally, I also liked the a la carte dishes and snacks!
It was my first time to try `Agedashi Conger Eel'', and it was very delicious with its large, fluffy texture! Also, the crab flavor of `Kanishinjo'' goes well with the soup stock, and it was my first time tasting this too! It was so delicious!

This is a store I want to visit again!
Thank you for the meal!

Used for lunch.
Since it was a day off, we started with champagne and also had highballs.
The owner was kind enough to cut the amount of vinegared rice in half, so we could have some sushi as a snack.
Each item is delicious.
I'm not the type of person who puts soy sauce on everything, so I loved how they used salt and yuzu pepper to bring out the flavor.
