My husband and I stumbled across this Red Bean Mochi shop (Imanishiken) on our way to Kyoto Station after trying to find a small shrine nearby…it was honestly a happy accident find and we didn’t realize this shop is actually popular among locals and tourists alike. Really enjoyed this Red Bean Mochi and the one covered in the soybean powder! Different from the other mochis I tried in Kyoto - soft, fresh, and delicious. I recommend if you like red bean!

Hidden gem in Kyoto for sweet lovers! Expect to line up before the shop opens and these lovely sweets will usually gone before noon.
Personally, I love the one with coarse red bean skin (the dark red one on top left in the photo)

Great place to get ohagi (glutinous rice ball covered in red bean paste). Recommended by a local and didn't fail. Went on a Wednesday and opened at 9:30am. Closes when they run out (which is supposed to be by noon). ~ ¥190 each.
