Joe's Shanghai Review Summary

This is my second time visiting Joe’s in Tokyo. First Ginza and now this one in Ikebukuro. Ginza one is definitely newer and nicer in interior. Tho this one got a view and the service is way better at this location. Food is great in both place. Since the view is great, this is good for a date. They have private room and booth too so it’s good in big group situation too.

Got the Sesonal Taste course. The appetizers and desserts are delicious.

The highlight was definitely the pork xiaolongbao. They are 1.5-2x the size of regular ones, so the price is really not bad. They are suuuper juicy. The soup tastes rich and almost creamy. The crab one did not taste much like crab and did not taste as good as the pork one.

The rest of the food was not so great. The sour noodles was like stir fried instant noodles. And some of the other dishes did not taste as 'authentic'.

I would suggest going here mainly for the xiaolongbao. I would say it's better than 鼎泰豐.

The service was really nice. The restaurant has an upscale feel but we were dressed casual and it was not a big deal. It also has a beautiful night view of the city.

We are pretty satisfied with our lunch here, xiaolongbao was up to the expectation, really good amount of soup in there, taste was also great. I ordered the mapo tofu lunch set, tofu actually tasted pretty authentic, good level of spicy and mala

The view is impressive as you are at level 60. We have been lucky to have a table by the window.

Came here to eat shark, and it was very nice.

Perhaps it needs some more food in the courses though.
