ŌKawa-ya Description

Located in the charming neighborhood of Kagurazaka in Tokyo, Ōkawa-ya is a renowned restaurant that specializes in soba and tempura. Recognized as one of the top 100 soba restaurants in Japan, Ōkawa-ya has been selected as a top choice by both the Kagurazaka Soba Association and the Tabelog Soba Ranking in 2022.

What sets Ōkawa-ya apart from other dining establishments is its commitment to quality and tradition. The soba noodles are made in-house using high-quality buckwheat flour, resulting in a delicate and flavorful texture. The tempura, on the other hand, is expertly prepared using fresh seasonal ingredients and a light, crispy batter.

The restaurant's interior exudes a traditional Japanese ambiance, with wooden furnishings and a serene atmosphere. Guests can choose to sit at the counter and watch the skilled chefs prepare their meals, or opt for a private tatami room for a more intimate dining experience.

Some of the must-try dishes at Ōkawa-ya include the zaru soba, a refreshing cold soba dish served with a dipping sauce, and the tempura moriawase, a platter of assorted tempura showcasing the chef's skill and creativity. For those looking for a complete meal, the restaurant also offers set menus that combine soba and tempura, providing a well-rounded and satisfying dining experience.

Whether you're a soba aficionado or simply looking to indulge in authentic Japanese cuisine, Ōkawa-ya is a destination that should not be missed. An English speaking young gentlemen staff attended to us. Our family of six had tempura (repeated order after first serving! ; ) ), chicken sashimi, cold and hot soba, duck soba, mushroom soup. All are excellent fresh quality and refined taste. Both hot and cold soba are as good. Soup is perfectly balanced. Boutique restaurant with six counter seatings and two tables of two-seater. Highly recommended!

A special place with a very exquisite, slightly rotating menu. Very delicious Unagi Tempura, soba, and tofu. Also tried chicken sashimi here and enjoyed it!

We had sake and soba noodles at Kagurazaka. This is a nice shop located in an alley after leaving Kagurazaka Station. When I arrived at the store around 11:30, there were already 5 groups of people waiting outside. I followed him for about an hour...

Friday in December. I requested an appointment about 2 weeks ago for a year-end party with 4 customers, and visited. One of the people who will be with me is my sake teacher. I was very satisfied this time as well. Ueda's famous sake, Kirei...delicious...

I ate conger eel tempura + bamboo steamer and a second helping of bamboo steamer! It's a little expensive at 3300 yen for lunch, but I think it's worth it. It is quick and easy to use even by one person. They serve the conger eel tempura first, so it's crispy and piping hot...
