Simply great! Very traditional sweet of Japan. They cook it at the front and serve you straightaway. It looks that there are many but you may eat up in a minute. You can easily have 2 serves. There is a car park and you can get a discount ticket if you ask. I went to the temple next to it after a nice rest.

A wonderful cultural experience with sublime aburi-mochi. The cafe first opened in 1656 and I felt its history as I looked at the elegant interior. Every nook and cranny was full-on photogenic old Japan. I sat next to the lovely garden. The mochi was amazing - such a blend of different flavours. I loved the grilled, crunchy bits. The service was excellent. A must-visit.

Located at Ichimonjiya Wasuke, the oldest sweet shop in the world, selling Aburimochi since the year 1000! It is now run by the 25th generation of the same family. I saw the owner, Hasegawa San checkin its business.
