Kikumaru Description
Located in the bustling neighborhood of Asakusa, Kikumaru is a charming Japanese dessert shop that specializes in traditional Japanese sweets, known as wagashi. This hidden gem has been selected as one of the top 100 dessert shops in Tokyo for 2023. With a passion for creating delicious and enjoyable desserts, the owner of Kikumaru has honed their skills at two renowned dessert shops in Ueno and Ginza.

The red bean paste is made from the highest quality 'Toyohime' beans sourced from Hokkaido, ensuring a melt-in-your-mouth texture. In addition to anmitsu, Kikumaru also offers a variety of other delectable treats, such as custom-made monaka (wafer filled with sweet bean paste), indulgent matcha ice cream, and a unique sake-infused ice cream made with koji.
Step into Kikumaru and be transported to a traditional Japanese tea house, with its serene and elegant decor. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the restaurant, from the beautifully crafted wagashi displayed in the glass case to the carefully selected tea sets used to serve their desserts. A cute little place with some amazing deserts!
If you love Japan or just want to really try the authentic traditional side, this is a place for you! The portions are pretty big so I'd suggest maybe keeping that in mind and ordering more afterwards.
I absolutely loved the sake ice-cream, mochi and azuki, it's a great combination and you can really tell that the staff loves what they do.
A must go to! Only reason they only get a 4/5 is that I don't have enough experience with this kind of sweets as it's pretty hard to come by.

I found this place while wondering the streets around Kappabashi shopping street.
We were enticed by the display in the window and we were very pleased with what we found.
We had match anmitsu, which is a kind of sweet jelly and green tea ice cream with various fruits. It was extremely delicious!! The fruits were so juicy and delicious, much better than expected. It was the perfect way to cool down in a hot day.
The staff were very professional and attentive, immediately filled out cups with nice cool green tea and were so helpful.
English menu is available and there is a wide range of desserts to choose from.
I recommend this place to satisfy your sweet tooth.
