Lovely atmosphere combining delicious, seasonal Japanese food and delightful pottery - I enjoyed the dishes that the food was served on almost as much as the food itself!
As a vegetarian I had to watch as many of the dishes use katsuo broth but I was still able to find many veg-friendly dishes. The gingko nuts were divine, I was thrilled to find 栗の芝皮煮 as I haven't had them in years. The soba sushi - with ginger and shiso vs fish - was a fantasy for my taste buds. Their take on ぜんざい was the most creative I've experienced and it works - they use buckwheat flour to make a mochi-like ball and add shiso and umeboshi to the top.

Brought here by my Japanese friend. She said this place is famous for “Soba”. So, I tried a kind of Soba eating with “Japanese Yam”, or my friend explained that it’s a kind of a mash potato. We must mix everything with this mash potato (e.g. fresh egg, Soba sauce, ginger, wasabi, and so on), then we dip the soba noodle into this mix, which will be a bit slimy, but after tried it’s a unique experience, never had before. Chilled Tofu is also nice, and most interesting is the sushi that use soba instead of sushi rice!
