Really superb monaka. You need to call ahead a week to reserve

Kuya's Monaka is mentioned in famous author, Soseki Natsume's book I am a cat. This is pretty simple traditional wafer which is filled with bean jam since 1884. Because of its pure tastes, I was not sure if i like it. I am used to eating so many junk, so I felt a bit lack in it. It's nice design and respectful history though... :))

Worth the hype! The monakas are amazing; with a crisp outer shell and a delicious red bean filling. The aroma infused the room when opening the box! Found them the right amount of sweet as well.
Great as a present; keep in mind their best before is within a week as all fresh baked sweets like that.
To avoid disappointmnet make sure to call for a reservation.
