La Sucette Review Summary

Discovering this restaurant was a divine surprise. I had been looking for a table for lunch in a French restaurant, and had selected it on the basis of its proximity to an appointment following lunch.
The decor is sober, with tables spaced out without trying to optimize floor space, thus providing much appreciated comfort to customers.
The restaurant offers three lunch formulas, the first at 2,500 yen for a choice of hors d'oeuvres and a main course, a second at 3,500 yen including dessert and coffee, and finally a formula at 5,000 yen including starter, fish, meat and dessert and coffee.
I took the 3500 yen option with mushroom soup and foie gras flan, linguine with cod confit in lemon oil and, for dessert, pear compote with chocolate praline and rum sabayon.
The dishes served were all fine gastronomy. The soup was absolutely delicious, with a perfect creaminess and texture. The linguine with cod confit was worthy of a fine Italian table. This was a truly gourmet meal, and quality was not at the expense of quantity, as the portions served were equivalent to those of traditional cuisine.
Last but not least, the chocolate pear was a pure delight, exquisitely harmonizing flavors in the mouth.
The wine by the glass at 1,000 yen, which is more than reasonable at this high level of cuisine, is of very good quality and harmonizes ideally with the dishes.
Service was impeccable, and I also had the pleasure of conversing with the chef in French. The walls of his restaurant bear the signatures of the great French chefs, Paul Bocuse and others, with whom he worked while in France.
I'd just been lucky enough to enjoy a meal of fine gastromie at 3500 yen.
