I had the best mapo dofu I ate here. I come from Singapore and we do know what is a good mapo dofu. And are accustomed to spiciness. This one has the right level of spiciness. We ordered a medium one (red akai bowl) and a non spicy one. See pictures please.
This was also the last meal we had in Tokyo on the night of 28 Oct 2023 before we head back to Singapore.
Regarding some of the recent negative reviews, it seems that they are posted with a similar pattern of writing. Contrary to what is written, I found the service to be very good and warm from the staff.

The mapo tofu was so delicious - it wasn’t overly spicy but has a slight mala sensation to it. Unfortunately it also gave me waves of heartburn for the last 6 hours, it uses a lot of oil and I found it too greasy

As a Chinese I really like the Mapo tofu in Japanese style. It is different yet still very delicious.
