Maruhachi Review Summary

The pork cutlet is very nice. I really enjoyed the meal. Even though I only tried the cheapest option (1,500yen) , the portion was not small and it was very tasty. And it's not expensive compared to similar shops. They also provided English menu:) The shop itself is kind of hidden on the street. You have to look for their entrance.

Recommended by Google and others' reviews, and it certainly didn't disappoint!

The restaurant is a simple and no thrills style, but therein lies the the beauty that the focus is all about the food.

There is bar seating downstairs and some floor level tables upstairs.

The staff are friendly and welcoming, making us feel welcome and happy to have us. We were the only non-Japanese couple in but you wouldn't know it!

The food came quick and was absolutely incredible. The pork is sublime, a perfect combination of juicy and crispy with excellent rich flavours.

If you want some tonkatsu, make the trip. It's right by the station so it's super easy to access.

Best tonkatsu we’ve ever had (上ローストンカツ定食). It comes with rice and cabbage refill and a really delicious bowl of tonjiru soup.

The staff were really friendly and gave great service even though we went near their closing time. They’ve been around for 60 years and it’s easy to see why. Definitely going back when we get the chance!

Amazing katsu with a homemade feel. The star is the juicy choice (上) pork loin katsu. Also ordered the steamed pork on a whim, and it turned out incredible. The kushikatsu (串カツ) was also fantastic, with onion inside. Even the weiner was good! The service was friendly, attentive and thoughtful. They even had an English menu!

This place is amazing. The friendliest people. And great deep fried pork cutlet, rice, miso soup, salad. This restaurant had been running for 69 years, went through one generation. They have English on their menu. They offer extra rice if you need. So heart warming!!
