You will find this sobaya small but cozy. The waitress can speak little English and offer English menu. I ordered two tone soba and it’s simply delicious. For those aren’t afraid of tempura, please give it a try on their assorted tempura. Anago is amazing.

Since I could not speak Japanese, I just ordered the second thing on the menu (lunch). The waitresses was very friendly, even though I cannot speak the language. They first served the soup, it was so good that I forgot to take a picture! (Sorry)
And then there was the noodle. It was the best soba noodles I had in Japan. I will visit if I am in Japan again.

SOBA: Delicious, truly excellent, hand made on-site soba, worth wandering back streets to find this shop near Suidobashi & Jimbucho Stations. Tempura is brought to the table piece-by-piece while hot & just out of the fryer. English menu. The small shop is on an improbable, un-named back street not too far from Hotel Niwa. Easy to find with Google maps. Around 3,00--1,500 en.
