Mihashi Ueno Main Shop Review Summary

We visited this authentic Japanese sweets cafe at 8 pm after dinner. It was not crowded and the staff was very friendly, polite, and working briskly. You can enjoy various kinds of Japanese sweets at a relatively low cost.

The green tea shop seems to be an old shop with two floors. The shop is not very large. One employee provided good service and had to order one thing, which is normal in Japan. The green tea flavor is well done. There is an English menu. Can be requested from employees

You can get traditional Japanese desserts here, which features anmitsu jelly, red bean paste and various toppings.

Upon seating, you will receive a cup of green tea. You are required to order at least 1 item per person. Portion of each dessert is just nice for 1 pax. It can get a quite sweet with the syrup settling all at the bottom.

The red bean paste is sweet and extremely smooth. The desserts also comes with sugar syrup already drizzled in. Mochi was very soft and smooth.

We also ordered a matcha and it was delightful. The matcha was smooth and not powdery but yet thick and frothy. Adding just 1 pack of sugar was sufficient to add a nice gentle sweetness to the drink.

My favorite Japanese sweet shop. Every time I come to Japan, I will make sure I stop by and have a couple of their desserts. I remember there was a trip that I stayed in Tokyo for 12 days. I had their dessert for dinner for 12 nights in a roll!

We reached this dessert restaurant on weekday at about 12pm. Queue time about 15 minutes for the table. Table serve ordering.

The strawberry dessert was delicious. Very fruity. 3 stars

The signature red bean dessert was out of this world. The red bean was cooked to perfection. Not too sweet nor too plain. Just perfect. 5 stars
