Mishima-tei Description
Mishima-Tei is a famous sukiyaki restaurant in Kyoto, known for serving the finest wagyu beef since 1873. Located just an 8-minute walk from Sanjo Station, this historic spot in the charming Sanjo Teramachi-Kyogoku district offers an authentic taste of Japanese hot pot.
The restaurant's traditional machiya-style architecture, dating back to the Meiji era, creates a cozy and elegant atmosphere that takes you back in time. The highlight of Mishima-Tei is their sukiyaki, where expert chefs prepare melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef right at your table. The beef is carefully aged to bring out rich flavors and a tender texture, making every bite unforgettable.
In addition to sukiyaki, they also offer other tasty hot pot dishes like Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) and Oil Nabe (hot pot cooked with oil). The interactive dining experience, with food cooked right before your eyes, adds a fun and exciting element to your meal.
For a true taste of Kyoto’s culinary traditions and the best sukiyaki, Mishima-Tei is the perfect choice for a memorable dining experience.

The thickest beef sukiyaki I had, which taste amazingly good.
I try to book online but it’s full, so I walk in randomly at 4pm, and I got a table immediately, lucky me.
Ordered one normal and one premium beef sukiyaki.
The premium one slightly more melty, but I would say it’s pretty much the same, so it’s up to you if u want a slightly melty one.
The service was great, PLEASE AWARE there’s extra charge for the service fee and tax, which is written on the outer menu.
With two sets, it’s around $40000 yen total, it’s a bit more pricy than other.

I sat next to locals despite being a foreigner so I guess I did not experience the negatives mentioned in other comments. Waiting staff were very attentive, and food was prepared with great care right in front of diners.
