Mitamaya Description

Mitamaya is a charming Japanese confectionery and dessert shop located in Kyoto. This hidden gem has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants in the West region by the prestigious food guide, 'Tabelog,' for the year 2023. With a rating of 3.64 out of 5 stars and 236 reviews, it is clear that Mitamaya has captured the hearts and taste buds of many visitors.

What sets Mitamaya apart from other dining establishments is its focus on traditional Japanese sweets, known as wagashi. These delicate and artfully crafted confections are made using time-honored techniques and high-quality ingredients. Each wagashi is a work of art, with intricate designs and vibrant colors that reflect the changing seasons. From the moment you step into Mitamaya, you will be transported to a world of elegance and refinement.

The menu at Mitamaya offers a wide variety of wagashi, each with its own unique flavor and texture. One must-try item is their signature matcha-flavored wagashi, made with premium green tea powder sourced from Kyoto. The rich and earthy flavor of the matcha perfectly complements the sweetness of the wagashi, creating a harmonious balance of flavors. Another popular choice is the dorayaki, a traditional Japanese pancake filled with sweet red bean paste. The dorayaki at Mitamaya is soft and fluffy, with a generous amount of filling that will satisfy any sweet tooth.

The interior of Mitamaya is tastefully decorated, with a minimalist design that allows the wagashi to take center stage. The serene atmosphere and attentive service create a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience. Whether you are a wagashi enthusiast or simply looking to indulge in some authentic Japanese sweets, Mitamaya is the perfect destination.

It's been a long time since I bought Mitamaya's black mitsu dango! It used to be just over 1000 yen, but now the price has increased to 1296 yen. But there's still plenty of kinako! ! It seems like there is less brown sugar syrup than before? My impressions changed a little when I ate it, but it was very soft and delicious!
If I have a chance to go again, I would like to buy it (^^)

I received black sugar syrup dango as a gift.
The rice cake is very soft, and the brown sugar syrup has an elegant sweetness that isn't too overpowering.
It was so delicious that I never got tired of eating it.
This is definitely one item you should consider when taking home as a souvenir.

This shop is famous for its black sugar syrup soybean flour dumplings. Soft, more like warabimochi than dumplings. The compatibility of brown sugar syrup and soybean flour is very good.
It makes a great souvenir, but the large amount of soybean flour makes it difficult to distribute.
