This is a small neighborhood restaurant in a off the beaten path place that we found on Google, and were glad that we did.
Food is ordered via vending machine with a picture menu on the wall. You can order small, medium, or large plates, adjusting the price as necessary.
We got tempura and soba. Both were excellent! Presentation of the food was outstanding, and the amount of food that we got was also good.
Other review say that the restaurant is pricey for the meal, but as tourists, we thought that the portion was fair.
The owner was welcoming and had we been conversational in Japanese, might have enjoyed a nice chat.
There is a parking space out in front of the restaurant, although it didn't look as though, so we paid almost as much to park in the lot across the street, as we did for the meal! We did leave a review on the lot for those that follow so that they are forewarned as to the exorbitant price of less than an hour parking (1,200 yen).
This is a great off-the-beaten-path restaurant for a nice meal.

I have reviewed this restaurant previously, as I come back every time I visit Japan. I have previously eaten here in 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2023. I was hoping it would still be as good as I remembered! I LOVE the tempura veggies. They are beautifully fresh and lightly battered. The tempura chicken is also moist and delicious. Every time I come here, the owner has been polite and very helpful. I usually stay at Lund House across the road, but this time I am 1 hour away on 2 buses and it was still worth the trip to have this beautiful meal. You can choose the amount of rice you want to ensure no wastage. I got regular, but I will likely get small next time! There is also free cold tea as well, which is lovely. Thank you and see you next time!

I love tempura but allergic to shrimps, Motokame introduced different types of meats for tempura with very reasonable price so we ordered chicken tempura which is unbelievably soft and delicious.The place is easy to find near Ichijoji tram station,it is so well decorated with nostalgic posters; in addition to these,the owner is very friendly and helpful so ,all in all, two thumbs up for Motokame.
