such a cute restaurant, traditional setting with tatami floor (=no shoes) and floor seating. also a few seats at the bar. dining room has a beautiful view into their small garden.
i ordered my bowl with mixed grains&rice, really cool to have this option!
fish was absolutely incredible, i would definitely go for all toppings next time!
adding broth at the end creates a new flavor profile which is so interesting.
went here on a weekday and there was no queue when they opened.

I really enjoyed this experience and it was well priced and really caters to Japanese and foreigners. You order off a set and your have the option to add extra toppings. We opted for extra uni.

We got there 45 mins early on a weekday and was the first there. But everyone who got there by opening time got seated. Glad we got there early as we got to sit in the courtyard.

Mukai is a cozy haven where the waitress is friendly and treats you like family. 🍲 English menu provided, order via Japanese paper (Google Translate helps!). 📝 Fresh seafood steals the show, Fish meat is tuna Otoro parts, and prices are a fantastic deal for the quality. 💰 Plus, enjoy free broth for an Ochazuke twist. The broth has Uni (sea urchin) mixed in. 🍣 Don't miss this delightful culinary experience! #MukaiMagic

海鮮処向井 was everything we anticipated! we arrived 20 after 10 and were the only ones waiting (weekday). the tatami seating made it so cozy and intimate, we were the only ones seated for the first 30 minutes, then other customers started to arrive.

the seafood bowl was so fresh, as if we were eating at the tsukiji market. we ordered 2 kaihdon with egg and uni. every bite melted away and it was perfectly paired with a homemade miso soup. we tried the ochazuke, their house made clam broth to finish off the end of the rice bowl. while i preferred the don without it, its packed with flavour and a hint of smokiness.

definitely a must try and fantastic value. we’ll be coming back before we leave Tokyo! ごちそうさまでした
