Murakami Kaishindo Chaho, tea seller, is the oldest confectionary shop in Kyoto. Murakami family was an appointed chef in Japanese royal court. Uncle of the founder of Murakami Kaishindo Chaho was appointed to learn how to make confections in order to serve at royal palace and state guest house.

You may know Japan is a kind of living museum. This confectionary shop is dated back to year of 1868. Now we are living in 21st century and eat anything, but we may eat 150 year old taste of European confectionary in Kyoto. It might be very hard to find such long history shop in the other countries.

This is really nostalgia just like time machines. Cookies is ok delightful , not excellent , but the excellent service and the ambience is worth to pay a visit if you are at the neighborhood
