My partner and I were visiting Japan for the first time for both of us in the fall of 2023. We were looking forward to all the different culinary experiences we had planned for (and we had planned extensively), and the day we visited Nara Siemen we actually had planned to go to Udon Shin, which is just around the block of Nara Seimen. As much as we tried to get in, the line for Udon Shin was LONG and we decided to leave.
We walked past this place because it’s not obvious it’s there; however my partner noted a small menu hanging at the entrance and we decided to take a look. It was late, and we were the only ones inside. The atmosphere was so serene, calm and ver personal. The staff was very friendly. We were surprised by the menu and we decided to ask for recommendations on what to eat.
I just can’t straightforwardly express what an amazing experience the food was. It was light, and tasty, very flavorful, rich and at the same time different from your typical ramen. We paired the food with sake and it was just *chef kiss*
To me this one one of the top 3 highlights of my trip, and I highly recommend anyone to come visit. I wouldn’t be surprised if this restaurant soon starts popping up the list of top restaurants in Tokyo.

Balance of flavours, clarity of broth, hand made noodles and perfectly cooked meat really sets the bar to a different standard.
This chef is not to be slept on and a hidden gem.
Grab a bowl and thank me later.

It’s a competitive ramen booth in ramen town, but I wasn’t in love with the broth. I found it a little expensive too, tho I unds what they’re aiming for.
The paitan was better than the shoyu. I felt the shoyu was a little sour(?) than what I’d prefer
