The food was varied, with a couple of choices to personalize your experience. The meat and the curry were especially great!
We sat in front of the chefs as we'd ordered the teppanyaki, which was fun. The atmosphere is intimate, with 6-7 teppanyaki seats, and a few private rooms.
The staff were very friendly, and the chef who I think was the head chef spoke good english, which helped wrt. explaining the dishes etc.
I found the location itself to be a bit refreshing, as it was a 10min walk from the nearest metro station, and the area is quiet. The extra trip was well worth it though!

Loved this high end Teppanyaki restaurant. The food was incredible, and felt more like Japanese and French fusion fine dining than traditional teppanyaki. Our chef was awesome. He spoke English and was able to explain all the dishes to us. Highly recommend!

Getting in on short notice to a good teppanyaki restaurant in central Tokyo can be difficult, so my wife and I were pleased when we were able to get a reservation for Shirukuya only a day in advance.
We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation, but were greeted and seated at the counter immediately upon entering. One other couple was dining at the far end of the counter, and I had the impression that other people might be in rooms that we couldn't see from our vantage point. The interior was clean and sophisticated, and it was quiet enough that we could comfortably converse.
I was in the mood for cold sake, and was disappointed when I found only two varieties on the menu, and these served only by the glass. My wife ordered the dry sake, and I opted for the only alternative. My mood was immediately boosted when I sipped the cold sake -- both varieties were exceptional. Over the course of the meal I ordered refills, and I found that each refill was a little more generous than the previous.
We opted to order a la carte, rather than go for one of the set course meals. We started with the soup of the day, which was a cold corn soup. It was sublime, the flavor of corn front and center, and suffused with a delicate sweetness from the corn and the raw cream. We then each had an order of grilled fresh vegetables, and shared a serving each of the A5 wagyu sirloin and filet. Everything that came off the grill was excellent, perfectly prepared. We skipped the traditional serving of rice in favor of saving room for dessert. My wife had a tiramisu, which she enjoyed. I ordered the Basque cheesecake. The cheesecake was my one disappointment of the meal. It comprised about 3 tiny (about the size of a 100 yen coin) little pie-shaped cheesecake bits, topped with shaved parmesan cheese and greens, and served with a thimble-sized container of olive oil that I was instructed to drizzle over the dish. I wanted dessert, but I got what I considered salad instead.
The cheesecake aside, we had a very enjoyable dinner at Shirukuya. We'll check in again the next time we're in Tokyo.
