Nodaya
Tokyo
Japanese: Eel
Nodaya Description
What sets Nodaya apart from other dining establishments is their commitment to preserving the traditional techniques of the 'takumi no waza' (artisan's skills). The eel is expertly grilled to perfection, resulting in a golden-brown color and a tantalizing aroma. The Kanto-style 'Edo-yaki' eel, known for its bold and savory sauce, is a crowd favorite. For those with a preference for a sweeter flavor, the Kansai-style 'Jiyaki' eel, along with the restaurant's unique 'Iwajio-yaki' eel, are highly recommended.
In addition to their exceptional eel dishes, Nodaya also offers a carefully curated selection of sake and other beverages to complement the flavors of the cuisine. The restaurant's interior exudes a traditional Japanese ambiance, with a 'live kitchen' in the newly renovated annex where guests can witness the chefs' culinary skills firsthand. Please note that due to the restaurant's commitment to quality, the dishes are prepared upon order, so a little extra time may be required. Embark on a culinary journey and savor the true essence of eel cuisine at Nodaya.

After you choose your dish, you can check which eel is yours by employee and owner come to you to explain where eel is from and the size of eel.
But I think it is expensive and you have to wait for 30minutes after ordering yours so you need enough time to stay there. I recommend making a reservation.
It is closed to both tokyo metro station and JR line. After or before visiting Sky tree, eat eel.
Have a nice trip!

Kyosui unagi is one of the most famous brands of Japanese cultured eel. It has less fats, strong taste and almost no smell.
Vinegar marinated unagi and matsumaezuke are also nice.
