The sweet mochi is so good and refreshing after a day of walking. I also bought some signature autumn sweets. 🍁
Founded in 1908, the century-old confectionery offers Japanese sweets made from Miyazaki prefecture-sourced bracken starch, best known for their soft yet chewy texture.
This branch of Oimatsu has a small tea salon right behind their confectionery shop and we decided to come in for some refreshment.

Oimatsu Arashiyama is a traditional Japanese desert and tea house. There's daily special to choose from. I chose matcha and desert combo. It was perfect to sit and enjoy the tea and desert after a nice walk in Kyoto. The shop front is a desert shop where you can purchase variety of deserts, and the tea area is in the back.

Great deserts in the area! They have some takeout deserts at the front of the shop but I personally went in and tried their shaved ice. I ordered the orange jelly too but in was too bitter for my liking. The matcha shaved ice was on point though! A nice stop if you’re visiting the Bamboo Groove and you need a dessert break! They have unique deserts with a great taste to pair it with.

Around 12:30, I was tired from walking all over the place and wanted to take a break, but there were about 5 people waiting at the cafe, so I decided to only buy souvenirs. They listened to my order immediately and I was able to purchase it smoothly. Bankanto (grapefruit) sold separately...

Translated from Japanese:

Saturday at 12pm. I learned from a reviewer that it was surprisingly empty despite being in Arashiyama, so I stopped by before lunch. You write your name in front of the entrance of the cafe and wait, but the information is only in Japanese, so it's a bit difficult for foreigners such as Chinese...

Translated from Japanese:

A long-established store famous for warabi mochi and sweet sugar jelly. As of May 2023, it is a popular restaurant with a rating of 3.56, but for some reason it was empty during the peak Golden Week rush, making it a little-known spot. We recommend you to have a relaxing time! 1 group of customers after 2pm on holiday. Ko...
