This was our first experience of Kaiseki and Mashita was an excellent introduction. Mixing seasonal fresh ingredients in ways I've never seen prepared before was exciting and delicious. Over the course of two hours we enjoyed the service and delightful tasting dishes for a hard to beat price point.

Our standout items featured the octopus and snail from the Hassun, its odd but the real wasabi paired with the sashimi and the miso crepe rolled dessert. An amazingly enjoyable meal.

We booked a private room for a Kaiseki dinner while we were staying in Kyoto. The private room comfortably sat the 6 of us around a western style table.

The lead hostess spoke very good English and her daughter spoke some as well.

The restaurant is tucked away off a main street which made it very easy to get too.

The room had two AC units which helped as it was very hot and humid outside and our walk over had left us in need of a cool down.

The food was some of the best we have ever had. Every course was a texture and flavor wonder land. At different points in the meal people were moved to tears and all of us were crying after we finished desert.

Everyone should get to experience this kind of meal once in their life.

Food was so delicious (Kaiseki). The service was superb, and the staff were so friendly. They described every dish (each course). The experience was enjoyable from the time we were greeted (they took our jackets), till the time we left (they called us a taxi, and a staff member waved and bowed as the taxi left). The location is great too, right by the Gion area. I highly recommend Oryori Mashita!
