This cozy ramen shop in Asakusa is a hidden gem for ramen lovers. Their soy-based ramen strikes a perfect balance of flavor—rich yet not overpowering. The sweet bamboo adds a unique touch, complementing the fresh wontons and perfectly cooked noodles. The friendly owner and staff, always smiling and welcoming, enhance the dining experience. It’s no wonder this spot is a local favorite. Highly recommended for an authentic and heartwarming meal.

Popped in just at closing time. Apparently this used to be a noodle factory going back to 1910, then in 1950 they opened a ramen shop. The decor has not changed either. I was greeted by a nice elderly lady who recommended the wantanmen (ワンタンメン). It took 3 minutes to get my order. I went for the toppings first and they were excellent. The menma in particular had been marinated in something sweet, perhaps mirin. This complemented the saltyness of the chashu. The wantans were soft, doughy, and addictive. I don't usually like wantans in my ramen, but I'll make an exception for these anytime. The shoyu broth had a sweet note to it as well. I coudnt confirm, but I suspect the noodles were hand made. Additionally I ordered shumai (シューマイ) and they were kindly added for free :) I covered the shumai with ponzu sauce and mustard as per the woman's instructions, and they were deliciously satisfying. This was certainly a unique, old school tokyo style bowl and shop that I will come back to again.

Unassuming hole in the wall ramen joint. Generous portion. Every element in the bowl was delicious. I’d come back again
