Overall I did enjoy the dinner. Can’t say it is really Italian because I saw more French techniques in the journey, and of course some Japanese influence too.
However I didn’t like the cold caviar pasta because after the cooked pasta cooled down in water, there was a stale starch taste in the water. The smell completely cover the aroma of the caviar. The sesame cake didn’t have enough aroma of the sesame but some kind of not-so-fresh floury taste. Or it could be because of the butter in the batch. ( Sesame and butter don’t go well together in my opinion) These were the only two things that I didn’t like from the January menu.
Last but not least, I asked for house red wine since I don’t drink much. The waiter said they ran out and they brought another kind of Italian wine made of merlot and Sauvignon Blanc ( to my surprise). They charged me 3800 yen for that glass of wine at the end! It was 2.5 times more than the house red. A rip off indeed! And it wasn’t even an impressive red wine. I suspect that they sell all wines at outrage price because the locals don’t drink Italian wine.

2.5 hours of incredible service and amazing food! Very small portions but we definitely did not leave hungry. Italian but Japanese Inspired. One guest in our party has a food allergy and with advance notice, they prepared a special meal to accommodate him. We communicated with the restaurant via email regarding the allergy and any special needs or requests. The chef came out to introduce himself and even helped see us out. Top notch all the way!
