Tucked away down a small street, this award winning shop is definitely worth a visit to pick up gifts, or to get yourself a seasonal sweet treat. The traditional Japanese Konpeito is beautifully packaged. The shop assistants are very helpful, cheerful and welcoming.

Travel a bit off of the tourist corridor, and you will find one of the nicest little shops on earth! The candy is tasty and the staff are so nice! This candy is even lived by soot sprites in Spirited Away!

100+ years of konpeito making history in this shop (I asked the staff). Went there with my daughter and we tasted coconut and strawberry flavour. This shop has several different flavours (soda, ginger, melon, banana, vanilla etc) along with the seasonal ones (chestnut and pumpkin for autumn). Ended up picking up the small bags with strawberry, melon, ginger, and soda flavour with only 500-ish yen per bag. Yummy, not too sweet, perfect for gift/souvenir!
