Saawaan Bistro Review Summary

The interior of the restaurant is nice. However, the food except the pork and fried shrimp didn’t surprise me at all. First of all, the papaya salad is a little bit too dry. Next, the white curry I ordered is a bit too liquid-ish and doesn’t taste very good. The spices are not very strong and I don’t like its combo with something sour like grapefruit.

Heard good things about this restaurant so had to come check it out. Reserved for a weekend lunch which wasn’t hard to get. Loved the drink bar, it’s a great option for those who like a drink (or many) with lunch, but they also have many non alcoholic options. Had the duck green curry in the lunch set. Flavors were good but don’t expect a traditional curry size, I would say it’s more of a heavy sauce. You get both purple rice and traditional jasmine rice which is nice mix. Service was friendly, and it’s definitely more economical to come for the lunch.

I didn’t have a reservation, but was able to get a seat without an issue on a Saturday during lunch time.

I got the ¥3500 lunch +¥300 wagyu

I enjoyed the fish salad, salad, pork and wagyu. All tasted great, especially the complimenting sauces. I did think the rice dish was a little dry, hence the deduction 4/5.

The service was very fast and the staff were very tentative. They speak english and japanese and also have the menu that way.

For being in Azabudi Hills. This is a great price for lunch.

It was my first time having modern Thai cuisine. We had 3900yen lunch course. You can pick one from several main dishes. I had grilled duck with green curry sauce. Main dishes are all spicy so if you are not tolerant of spicy food you need to tell them that you want it less spicy. Also the salad contains coriander leaves. Grilled veggies with spicy tamarind sauce was so good. I liked all dishes but I wish I could have more meat instead of a big portion of rice.

The service was really good! The staff were nice and elegant. They were really professional. But the food was not that good. It was like fusional Thai food. It didn't taste good. But it was very expensive. You have no choice but only the course menu. There were very few choices within this course menu. I have to say that is all about this place.
