Sakura-tei Review Summary

Very different and fun experience where you pay Casual and fun eatery to cook your own food! Instructions provided! Basically every person has to order a set which includes a drink.

I had a craving for okonomiyaki so tried this place which is in a cool building with grafitti on the walls. The employees are all very hipster (in a good way) and really friendly and welcoming (five stars for service!). Basically, you order one of the options and they bring you a bowl of pre-portioned ingredients, turn on the grill in front of you and you cook it yourself. It's super fun and not too difficult (they give you simple instructions to follow). Wash it down with a couple of beers. Highly recommend this place.

Trust google maps on this one, even if the way to the restaurant or its entrance looks a bit sketchy. It's worth it. It's tough to find vegetarian or even vegan food in Japan - here you can find it and they actually understand what it means. On top of this, you get an awesome experience by preparing your food on a cooking plate yourself and all in all you get a fair price. By the way - you can also get a mega beer (1 Liter?), can recommend.

Oct 24: saw this place on YouTube it was very quirky and entertaining, yes we have eaten better food but sometimes it's about the experience as well. It was very busy on the Friday night and we did book beforehand. There are clear instructions on how to cook the meal. We were just under £30 for meal an 4 beers. Ideal if you're looking for something different but not sure if I would recommend with kids.

Personally, I don’t love Okonomiyaki, but decided to try this place while visiting Tokyo.

The meal was average I would say, but again, it’s probably a reflection of my food taste and not the restaurant.

That said, great price for the meal.
