Samon Review Summary

This looks like a fairly new place. We came here because we love supporting mom and pop shops and this did seem like a cute older couple was running it. I was also happy to see that they actively update their hours on their Google Maps profile since we came on New Year’s Day, where many shops were closed.

We ordered the sashimi platter, sake clam soup, and the “bakudan natto”.

The sashimi platter was very fresh, the squid was creamy and the amaebi sweet.

The sake clam soup was a little salty but I think that is the style for serving the soup.

The “Bakudan natto” was new to me. Usually I’m afraid of natto but they made it very palatable with the small quail egg yolk. I accidentally put too much soy sauce and it was too salty so I had to ask for a bowl of rice to make it more palatable, so I would recommend you also order this with a side of rice. It was good.

The owners are very nice and sweet and friendly, I would come here again and would recommend this place. Like I’ve seen in other reviews there is very good “cospa”, or cost performance. You get good value for what you pay for.

2023.10.6 Lunch by reservation. It is located slightly to the west on the opposite side of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and Imadegawa Dori. A small shop. The general manager and the landlady are managing the situation.
Surprising seafood bowl (¥1200) that caught my attention based on reviews. Two types of small bowls are served.
At first glance, the general appears to be a workman, but he is quite friendly and easy to talk to.
The seafood bowl is served on a beautiful plate, the ingredients are carefully selected, and each item is explained individually. As expected, everything was delicious, the shari was delicious, and I was very satisfied. The cha soba noodles were also delicious with good soup stock.

On my way back from Kitano, I wandered around Hakubaicho and came to the store. Seriously, seafood dishes are very reasonably priced!
The famous mackerel sushi is a must-order! ️
It's said that it gets crowded at lunchtime, so it might be better to go for dinner. However, the story may be out of stock...Please call to confirm❗️

I have bothered you many times. The fish is always fresh and very delicious. I've been here for both lunch and dinner, and the quality of the food is always surprisingly high! This is one of the most delicious sushi restaurants in Kyoto. The owner and the lady in the hall are very warm and easy to talk to, so you can enjoy your meal in a safe and fun atmosphere. And if you order wine, they will pour you plenty of it♪
Personally, I feel that the customer service is very pleasant, and it is a restaurant where you can relax.

Today I was able to buy mackerel sushi for takeout. It was so delicious!
I'll also go eat some seafood for eat-in.
