Do not be fooled by the fake high rating. This is an overpriced and over-rated restaurant. They sell lunch-bento quality food at 5-10x price. And they state bento food as “kaiseki”, which is totally misleading. The “hot” dish tastes worse than supermarket cooked dish, and much smaller portion. It was just microwaved before serving. One hygiene issue here, the chef coughs a lot in front of you and your dishes.
Additional comments after owner’s reply: I know it is a typical Japanese homemade simple meal, and that is exactly why the rating is heavily inflated. Long history does not improve taste. Just not worth it. This is the lowest value-for$ Japanese meal in my 17 days trip in Japan, and my other Japanese meals cost 10k+ yen.

We stumbled in here and ended up having the best meal experience of our whole trip. Each of our sets was delicious, and the atmosphere was incredible.

The best restaurant we have tried since we came to Japan. After going to Osaka and Kyoto, I can assure this is the best food and service we have received. With a very close personal, including a very good veteran chef (who you can see cooking in front of you!), and a lovely couple, that explain step by step how to eat your meal to enjoy it the most, I can confidently say every yen was worth of it. An excellent tempura, but I would like to make an special mention to the Somen menú, which was absolute perfect.

Had a great lunch at this small quaint 6-seater family owned restaurant! Ordered the cha soba set meal and it was really yummy. the owner cooked everything in front of us and we really enjoyed our meal! Would return :)

This was the perfect experience. We escaped the freezing cold weather for this restaurant, and it warm, peaceful and well thought out. On arrival we were served hot tea and enjoyed the sound of the wind chimes. We both ordered the sushi set and it was fantastic, truly beautiful to look at, experience and taste. The service was also great. For 2500 yen, you're getting a great value experience in a tourist heavy location. 100% worth it.
