Shinsen Review Summary

Southern Chinese (including Hong Kong) food. Very nice light taste. A little too pricey. The cheapest beef soup costs 1980JPY. Not like other Chinese restaurants, very clean and neat with good air without any smoking. One Japanese female short staff was very nice, who even cared the ink on their stamp card by wiping the card (not to make the customer's fingers get the ink).

A real hidden gem in this busy area of Shinjuku. The meat is melt-in-the-mouth tender and portions are really reasonable. The lunch sets also come with a small portion of mapo tofu, pickles and rice. We ordered the double set, with regular braised brisket and soy sauce flavour, both were absolutely delicious. The shop is also really clean and the staff very friendly.

When you come into the Second Floor, you will be attracted by the environment here. And the perfect serve. Today I tried “Beef stew regular taste”. I recommend more people to try it. So just make an appointment via the link and enjoy the delicious food here.

We came before 5pm and the lunch set menu is still supported. Mapo tofu is recommended, overall food has great presentation, taste is bit salty.

Attitude is absolutely HK. Food is not. I just sat down and the waitress kept asking me to order to order. I didn’t have time to read the menu!!! Then I order one beef, just didn’t have time to say my second choice. She already showed her attitude, it’s like I didn’t order more. The point is I just need some time to process the menu and see what I should order more! The impatience is exactly HK. if you want to try poor HK waitress attitude, it’s the right place.

Also When the lift was open, there were two big piles of rubbish in front of me! I thought they were closing already! It’s was 8pm on Friday. The waitress’ attitude was like she wanted to close for the day but just wanted to shove us the food so that we can leave asap.

Not recommended. Half of tables are empty on Friday at 8pm. The popularity shows the quality of food.
