First time eating at a counter in a Japanese restaurant. Service was prompt, excellent & server spoke English. There was English menu as well.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 We ordered assorted sushi and a plate of squid tempura which were all really really good.😋👍🏼 We especially liked the scallop, torched prawns & beef with sea urchin. All the different fish sushi were also fresh and fantastic! See photos. A little bit pricey but it’s worth it!🤩 Be ready to queue for a while but it clears quite fast. There were just two of us so seating was much faster but we waited for 30mins. The bigger the group the longer you’ll have to wait. Go for it anyways!😃😋👍🏼👍🏼

My wife and I went here many times on our trip to Kyoto. Have you ever wanted just simple sushi? This is it! Nothing complex, nothing expensive, just slap a filet of your favorite fish on some rice and get it to you in a couple of minutes! And the pieces are BIG and DELICIOUS. Seriously. I’ve been to fancy Michelin star sushi restaurants and paid for gourmet sushi and I’d rather go here 10 times out of 10.

We got all these pieces + a 6 piece roll + a beer + 6 quail eggs for ¥5,600 and it was brought to us within minutes of ordering.

Great place to stop by if you're around the area for your sushi fix.

Simple place serving high quality sushi alongside some great sides (we had the fried chicken - was good).

Small establishment with limited seating so be patient whilst queueing for a table.

Visiting Kyoto and amazed that this restaurant always has a line, so I had to try it out. We got in line at 8 pm on a Tuesday and waited. Other reviewers mentioned they noticed lines when the restaurant had open seats. We saw a few seats open for a short time, but the restaurant was pretty packed. And they were fully staffed. The place is small. We finally got seated around 8:40. It’s sushi, two meat dishes and friend chicken.

We ordered the fried chicken, the beef stew and a bunch of sushi. The food comes out pretty quickly. There were a lot of people working so the service was very attentive.

All of the food was good. The prices are moderate. I’m still confused why there is always a line. There are a bunch of other restaurants all in the same area. No other restaurant around has a line. It’s good. It’s not epic.

Went there on a Monday night. It was not a busy time. Approximately 70% of the restaurant seats were occupied. No one came to take our order and we had to get their attention on multiple occasions. Fish was just ordinary. Nothing special. You might as well get conveyor belt sushi for half the price and same good taste.
