The best sushi and sashimi I've had on my two week trip to Japan. We did not get the cheapest options but what we got was worth every Yen

Authentic and simple place, but very delicious sushi and friendly staff. English limited, however English menu was provided. Otherwise just use google translate. We went here because Kyoto old town was overcrowded with tourists and did not regret it at all!

Very good sushi, generous cuts, very reasonable pricing. The staff was very helpful, and were able to fit us in even without a reservation.

Delicious sushi in a traditional setting. The quality of the fish is excellent and the pieces generously sized. We were welcomed in a very friendly way and seated at the counter, so we could watch the chef preparing our sushi. My favourite sushi was the uni (sea urchin) and the superior quality tuna. The price is fair and we plan to come back before leaving the city.

Drawn here by the high ratings but if you look closely at the five stars comments, you’ll realise 80% of them are tourists who probably never had sushi or even Asian food in their life.
If you know your sushi, please do not come here. Seems like this place has turned from a mediocre-at-best neighbourhood sushi place to a tourist trap.
Undeniably, the sushi portion is very generous, given it’s almost the size of a fist. However, that is a complete loss of balance. If you have ever had good sushi, you will know the kind of satisfaction of popping the entire piece in your mouth with the fish slowing melting and blending in the rice. But with their “very generous” cut of squid, I spent almost five minutes just chewing on it and almost choking on the rice.
Foreigners are also treated differently here. Local customers were offered fruits after the meal and we had to ask for it.
