Best sushi experience in my life so far. Owned by an elderly couple, this place is warm and friendly. It exudes the charm of Kyoto of the yesteryears, tucked away right outside the busy Nishiki Market stretch. It is a small cozy space that fits around 5 - 6 people. The lady shop owner was really friendly and welcoming to us even though we didn't speak Japanese. Her husband carefully prepared the dishes to perfection tirelessly at the side. The food itself was sublime and definitely the freshest seafood donburi we've had so far.

Would highly recommend paying this place a visit if you're in Kyoto. Definitely an experience to remember for us. Thank you

    One word: incredible.

I can’t even begin to overstate how good this little place is. It’s been around for over 70 years and the couple who own it know their stuff.

We went with the chef’s recommendation and had the sushi bowls, which may have ruined sushi for us anywhere else! Fresh, light, and delicious

Why don’t you enjoy a only kyoto special meal before you enter 錦 market?

It’s Seafood Donburi and pressed sushi only at here, but the taste is Kyoto only as well.

The chef is really serious cooking, and the lady is doing service friendly.

Since we came to Kyoto and knows this store, it has become our must-come restaurant. The home style is always attached us come back again.

If you want to enjoy a Kyoto time, just open door and sit for a lunch meal.

    Cheers🍻

A really great experience of Kyoto.
It's very essential and no other places like here.

Great dishes and mind blowing services.
But you need to be really really fluent in Japanese conversation. Also, you need to know about tradition and culture of Kyoto.

Only 6 seats available, so if you are group of over 3 person, you shouldn't enter the place.

The very best cuisine in Kyoto, that means the very best cuisine in Japan.

A few important things first: the venue is very small and can only accommodate 6 people who all sit around the same bar. Food was excellent though I am no expert. No English, and service can be slow as your food is prepared to order by the chef who is literally a metre or two away. So it could be a good experience for more adventurous tourists looking to avoid tourist traps, but be prepared to spend some time here and for it to be cramped. I certainly enjoyed the experience.
