Sushitetsu Review Summary

The best meal I had in Japan. Quality was amazing for the price we paid - wish we had the chance to return! Our sushi chef was attentive and fun. Highly recommend this restaurant for a good meal.

Come on an empty stomach and order all the nigiris and chawanmushi!

Tips:
1. Arrive 20 minutes prior to opening
2. Walk down the alley, past the staircase on the right, and write your name down on the wait list
3. Wait in line behind the string barrier

If you're in Kyoto and looking for an affordable sushi experience, this is definitely the spot to be. For just 240 yen per plate, you can enjoy thick slices of salmon and chutoro nigiri. I do see some reviews complaining about the service, but I found the staff to be sufficiently polite and that was more than adequate given the price point. Honestly, I won’t really complain too much about the service since it’s more of a casual and budget-friendly sushi joint. I really enjoyed sitting by the counter and getting to order my sushi directly from the sushi chef! Do note that you’ll have to pay for cover charge and order a drink each!

Food was good but not worth all the hype. We waited in line for about 60 mins and we were in and out within the hour. The sushi was fresh and the unagi was our favourite; however the rolls were meh if you’re used to having the more westernized version of sushi rolls. Personally I don’t think it’s worth the wait as there are similar quality and price point all over Kyoto hence the 3 stars.

One of my favorite sushi places in Kyoto that I dropped in from the street. Quick and good. I had No expectations, but with very helpful staff and good service I walked out very happy with food and service, good price. Near the popular “food” street.

Fair prices, can definitely be super super full for 4k or less per person. Really great vibe, great chefs and great sushi.

BE AWARE of the huge line, if you come any time after 5.30pm. Expect to bring at least 1 hour in waiting time.
