Suzuka Review Summary

I went in for dinner today, Friday night. This is one of the best sushi I’ve had in Kyoto. I went to Rakumi(1 Michelin star) on Tuesday, and I think it was mid. I highly recommend coming to this sushi restaurant. The fish was very fresh and the temperature was perfect. I’m not sure why the other review said it was the worst sushi they had. This is my third visit here and they kept the standard for sushi making every time I was there(and even better this time around). The chef and the staff are very friendly, they even speak English really well. I ordered 5 extra pieces and the bill only came out to ¥23,100, this is the definition of value for money. I paid more than doubled at other Michelin stared sushi places. This place exceed the value for money expectation. Will definitely return multiple times in the future. (Their Japanese style panna cotta is so good I forgot to take a picture)

Worst sushi I’ve ever had in Japan. Most of the sushi were bland. Been to many sushi places in Japan, it was surprised to have a piece that the fish was surprisingly cold. What a shame, chef. It’s a restaurant that lacks craftsmanship.

Extremely pricey for the quality, like a fraud. We were the only customers on a Friday evening.

Almost forgot to leave review until we recommended our friends who are visiting Kyoto this week. We visited Suzuka back in March following recommendations from my former Japanese boss from a Japanese bank. The Omakase dinner was one of the best sushi we had in Japan.

Exceptional omakase sushi. A true highlight of our trip to Kyoto. Beautifully balanced and subtle flavours prepared with expert skill.

Amazing omakase sushi experience. Chef and hostess were very kind and welcoming. A collection of wonderful moments served one by one. Fantastic dinner.
