Takamaru Denki Review Summary

My boyfriend stumbled upon this place and it ended up being our favorite izakaya experience in Tokyo!! The food was incredible—we definitely recommend getting both the fried egg and noodles. Despite our limited japanese, the staff treated us really nicely and we were able to get by with what little we knew. Definitely recommend!!

Unique and excellent izakaya dishes. Vibes were nice; it’s an open kitchen concept so you can see everything. Came with complimentary appetizer/side dish per person. It was a bit on the expensive side, around 20,000 for 5 people. Staff was super nice and they had an English menu; we used google translate on the special daily menu.

Got the last 2 spaces on the 8 person counter/station dedicated to teppen & frying. There where 3 other stations where the energetic chefs each have their own realm of culinary creativity. What a vibe at this local spot! Choose your amuse-bouche from a tray of equally tempting small dishes and open your own beer. We had delicious gyoza soup, potato (and pumpkin?) salad, omelette with mushrooms and oysters, super tasty shitake, amazing harumaki spring rolls wrapped in prosciutto and paper bag shaken seasoned chicken wings. Great food, vibrant atmos and friendly service. Need to return to try the rest of the menu.

Great vibe, great location, really enjoyable and fun/festive place for quick dinner with drinks.

Make sure to try dry sake, it was delicious!

Delicious food with variety and especially liked the drinks (sours). The atmosphere is casual, lively, and somewhat cyberpunk which was cool!
