If you come across this restaurant, you must come here to have a kaiseki meal ( chef creation based on food in season) . Simply a joy to watch Mr Takehisa cook in-front of you and explain the ingredients going into the dishes. We have eight dishes, the best is the crystal clear egg yolk dish with shishamo fish. Excellent meal.

1 Persimmon sesame starter
2 Crystal egg yolk and shishamo fish
3 Seam bream and cuttlefish sashimi
4 Wild mushroom and eel (cut so finely cannot feel the bone) soup
5 Grilled kamasu fish
6 The Red King Crab meat and spinach
7 Samba fish rice
8 Chestnut dessert

Wow, we were lucky enough to have gotten a spot here through the manager of Noku Kyoto hotel nearby.
You walk in, leave your shoes at the lower level and find a pair of slippers waiting for you to go the stairs to the tatami mats where the main eating area is. Restaurant seats 6 counter style all facing the chef - talk about having a chefs table!
We opted for the omakasi and it must have be 15 dishes that were all prepared in front of us… over the course of the evening we had a ton of fun interactions with the chef and learned that many do the items in the menu were foraged by him on his local hikes!
Unforgettable evening, we left grateful to have had such a beautiful evening of special food.
