Wonderful local spot, great vibe and service.

The price to value is amazing if you get the specials but still very affordable either way. The braised eel was especially tasty and I enjoyed the light tea served at the table.

They have adorable instructions that explain how to combine and eat your food for the best flavors as well.

Also one of the few places open at an early hour (8:30am)

Was there around 8.30am and waited about 20 mins for a table. I respect that this is the choice of those managing the place as the food is prepared as per order and I could see it’s prepared with care. And because they maintain the zen vibe of the place, they allow customers to be seated as per arrival, ie, even a person eating alone sits at a table for 4. This is in stark contrast to some places where they seat strangers together in tight spaces even when there are available seats.

The food was delicious and well seasoned. They even had a drawing to show how the Ohitsusen is eaten. Both mine and my sister’s were very well seasoned. We totally enjoyed everything served to us.

Do take note that credit cards aren’t accepted at this restaurant. And so be patient and enjoy watching the chefs prepare the meals or your dining companions.

Highly recommend waking up early and strolling down to the restaurant for their Ohitsuzen special that runs between 8-10AM. Add an extra side dish for some fun.

Great authentic Japanese breakfast at a fair price. Neat to see the morning commute of the working class as well.
