    BEST STEAK OF MY LIFE!!

My sons and my wife make some good steaks. And a week ago I had an amazing Santa Maria style barbecue filet mignon at the far western Tavern in Orcutt, CA near Guadalupe and San Luis Obispo. But nothing could have prepared me for this.

Watch the video. When he prepares to plate the Wagyu A-5 Chateaubriand, he cuts it into pieces like he’s cutting soft butter. It was that tender.

It wasn’t cheap. But for the best cut of A-5 Wagyu, that’s to be expected. I was prepared to find it wasn’t worth the price. From the first bite to the last, it was worth every penny and more. Unbelievable flavor, super tender, just amazing. I ordered 200g as a splurge, then wished I had ordered 300g. I could have eaten a kilo.

After he served the steak, Chef Takahashi minced up fresh garlic, chopped up, some fatty trimmings from the log, and made incredible garlic rice.

The incredibly courteous server, whose name I’ll mangle (Zozoin?), brought a buttery tasting bowl of Miso soup, various pickles, and a beautiful fresh garden salad with a light but tasty dressing.

We’ve had a lot of great meals in Japan, but this will absolutely be the first place I go back to.

It was late 8pm to look for dinner and crave for some Teppanyaki. Spotted some promising Google reviews so went strolling as it was close to our hotel. After a some browsing inside the complex (it was located a little at the back past the small grocery), I finally found the place. I checked the menu outside and found that prices were reasonable, depending on your appetite. Walked in, welcomed, and found no one else dining. Ordered the 250g steak set, and got a seat with full view of the meal as it was prepared by the chef. Enjoyed every single bite as much as the cooking! Will come back again when staying near Toyosu.

For the past few months, I've been going there often for dinner (3 or 4 times a month), and since it's the closest teppan yaki restaurant nearby, it's convenient for me. Usually, there are few to no people, making the restaurant very quiet, which is good for me. The meat is not bad, but if you don't like fatty cuts, it's better to order the fillet or a leaner part. However, during my last visit, I saw more than 6 guests, which made the restaurant busy, including the chef. I was waiting at the entrance to be seated, but neither the chef nor the other staff (who know me well) bothered to say anything. Eventually, the chef with white hair pointed at a random table with his finger in a visibly annoyed manner (as if directing a dog). I've never felt so unwelcome before, so I went to the table but ended up leaving. I don't believe this is how a customer who frequents your restaurant should be treated. I feel sorry for the other chef who usually treats me well. As a result, I won't be returning there anymore.

This hidden restaurant is a teppanyaki restaurant specializing in Wagyu beef. There are a few kinds of beef to choose from and the steak is cooked in front of you while you wait. The sets come with soup, rice and vegtables as well as a serving of salad before the meal. Its delightfully good and you get the feeljng of eating at a fancy restaurant wven if it is small. This is one of the few teppanyaki restaurants you can find in Toyosu.

A gem of a place. Great wagyu steak and served by a great chef. We loved the vibe of this place and it was pretty quiet on a Monday.
